HEIRLOOM ART — Unveiling the Legacy of Raja Ravi Varma!

KALIYA MARDAN Kaliya was a feared, many-headed serpent who chose the banks of Yamuna, near Vrindavan as his home. His venom made the water bubble with poison and no one dared to visit that part of the river. One day, Krishna with his friends was playing ball near the river, when it accidentally fell into the river. Krishna jumped after the ball despite his friends’ warnings. Underwater, Kaliya attacked Krishna by wrapping his body around him. But Krishna grew his body so big, that Kaliya had to let go. Krishna then grabbed his tail, dragged him to the surface, assumed the weight of the universe in his feet, and danced on his many heads while playing the ute. Kaliyan on the verge of death was saved by his wives’ pleas and realized Krishna was no ordinary child. He vowed to never bother anyone and returned to his orinal home in Ramanaka Dwipa.
