DHRUV NARAYANA Dhruv was the eldest son of king Uttanapada through his rst wife Suneeti. But the king was very much attached to his second wife Suruchi and her son Utama, As a child, when Dhruva saw his brother Utama seated on the lap of his father, he also wanted to do so. But Suruchi denied his wish and told him that he had to seek the favour of Lord Narayana, to enjoy the royal rights as her son. Dhruv sought the blessings of his mother and resorted to the forest in search of Lord Narayana. In the forest, the celestial sage Narad met him, taught the science of meditation, and also told Dhruv to go to the Madhuvan forest near the river Yamuna. After Dhruva's continued meditation, Lord Narayan appeared before him and granted the boon that he would live in a lofty place as a star till the end of the Kalpa and his mother Suneeti would also remain as a star near Shiva, as long as Dhruva lived.
