SESHA SAYEE Lord Vishnu is presented here with his consort Lakshmi. He reclines on the ve- headed snake Adisesha. The coiled Adisesha with its hoods connotes the awakened kundalini power. He rests on the M i l k y - o c e a n r e p r e s e n t i n g t h e undisturbed, sweet, calm state of Turiya, which is the highest state of consciousness. Lakshmi sits near the feet of Vishnu, which is the sphere of ignorance (avidya pada). The kaustubha is the jewel he wears on his chest, it is the red jacinth obtained from the Milky-ocean. Vaijayanti orvanamala is the necklace of Vishnu which is made of ve jewels stuck together. The club in his hand is called kaumodaki meaning 'He who delights the world'.
