Shri Dattatreya Janma 14" x 10" SHREE DATTATREYA JANMA Anusuya was a chaste woman married to sage Athir, son of Brahma. Her devotion to her husband spread even in the celestial world and the Devas offered her a boon. She asked that the Trinities — Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva be born to her as sons. To test her chastity, the Trinities went to Anusuya in the guise of ascetics and asked her for alms, laying the condition that she should serve them without clothes on her body. Out of the spiritual excellence of devotion to her husband, she transformed them into babies and fed them as they wished. The consorts of the Trinities — Saraswathi, Lakshmi, and Parvathi came to Anusuya in search of their husbands. When she embraced all three babies in the cradle, Lord Dattatreya emerged as a fusion of the three powers with three heads and six hands, thereby fullling the boon ven to Anusuya.
